Event Charity:
A portion of the race proceeds will benefit the Heartland Church, specifically their benevolence fund. The Heartland Benevolence Fund will help to provide full Thanksgiving dinners for approximately 125 seniors in need in the Lexington area. If there is any money remaining after feeding all of the seniors in need in the community the funds will remain in the benevolence fund. The broader purpose of this fund is intended as a source of last resort, to be sought only when a family or individual requesting assistance from the Heartland Church has explored all other possibilities of help from family, friends, savings, investments, or any other resources. It is intended to be a temporary help during a time of crisis.

FAQ:
This run will be chip timed and it is very important that you visibly wear your bib on the front of your chest/body when crossing the start and finish line to ensure an accurate race time.
We do allow strollers at this event.
We LOVE dogs but unfortunately due to the size of this race we cannot allow dogs on course. However, dogs are 100% welcome to hang out at the start/finish line and give you tons of love once you cross the finish line! We will have a dog water bowl setup at the finish line for those pups who need a drink while waiting on their favorite humans to finish the race.
Anyone who wants to start the race after the main group has begun the run is more than welcome to and your time will still be accurate.
Headphones/iPod/mp3 devices are allowed, though are strongly not recommended. It is the participant’s responsibility to make sure that they do not impair their ability to hear and detect present or potential hazards and dangers as well as verbal instructions from course marshals.
If at any time you or someone else on course is in need of assistance throughout the run please notify a course marshal or dial 911 in case of an emergency and then please let the closest course marshal know as well.
The run will start rain, snow or shine. The run could be delayed due to lightning or other dangerous conditions. The above schedule is weather-dependent.
Virtual Racers:
Virtual racers will receive a turkey hat or long sleeve shirt or hoodie, race bib and finishers medal. Packets will be mailed and should arrive by Thanksgiving if you register by November 17. If you register after November 17 packets will be mailed as time allows but likely won't arrive until after Thanksgiving.
Anyone who plans to participate in the 5k, 10k and/or half marathon virtually will have until December 31 to enter their times online. If you do not wish to enter your time online that is ok as it is not required.
When registering please indicate whether you will pickup your packet in person or if you would like it mailed to you.
